Individual Game Tickets Available Online Monday

Opening day is less than a month away, and buying 66ers tickets for any and all of the 70 home games in 2010 is now easier and more affordable than ever. Inland Empire fans can purchase their individual game tickets Monday during an exclusive web presale at www.66ers.com at 9:00 AM. Plus, thanks to the 66ers new and improved partnership with Ticketmaster, fans can print their tickets at home for free.

“The average family of four buying tickets on line this season will see online purchasing fees reduced by more than 60 percent compared to 2009,” said 66ers Director of Ticketing Joe Fargnoli.

“There are no more print at home fees in 2010,” added Geoff Carns, General Manager for Ticketmaster Los Angeles. “We’re working together to make fees family friendly, and online purchasing much more affordable for 66ers baseball fans buying through Ticketmaster.”

The Inland Empire 66ers open the 2010 home season on Monday, April 12th at 7:05 PM, against the High Desert Mavericks. The opening homestand is highlighted by the first Saturday Fireworks Spectacular on April 17th. Following the 7:05 PM game with the Modesto Nuts the 66ers will light up the night sky with their first fireworks show of the year.

Fans will want to get their tickets quickly for the 66ers biggest promotions of the year. Including our Manny Ramirez 66ers Bobblehad giveaway Sunday, June 13th, the 66ers July 3rd fireworks show, and an appearance from the world famous Laker Girls Friday, July 23rd.

Remember individual tickets will be available exclusively online Monday at 9:00 AM, and for the first time fans can conveniently print their tickets at home for free. For more information visit www.66ers.com or call the 66ers front office at (909)888-9922.

City of Redlands hosts blood drive, marrow donor registry

LifeStream and the City of Redlands invite all healthy residents to donate blood outside the Redlands Police Annex, 30 Cajon St <http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=30+cajon+st.,+redlands,+ca&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=33.435463,79.013672&ie=UTF8&ll=34.055966,-117.182622&spn=0.008533,0.01929&t=h&z=16&iwloc=A> (corner of Vine and Cajon) Thursday, March 18, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

In addition to the annual blood drive, this year donors have the option of participating in the “Be the Match” registry, a national bone marrow donor program. By joining the registry and completing a simple and painless cheek swab, donors may be able to save the life of someone in need.

Blood donors must be at least 15 years of age, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health and free of illness or infections on the day of the donation. Donors who are 15 or 16 must have a signed LifeStream parental consent form. Donating blood takes about one hour and gives someone a lifetime.

Additional requirements for blood donors include:

 • Have blood pressure between 90/50 and 180/100 with a regular pulse between 50 and 100 beats per minute.
 • Have no history of Hepatitis (age 11 and older).
 • Be free of high-risk behavior/infectious disease, including high-risk sexual activity and/or IV drug use.
 • Not have had a tattoo within the last year.
 • Body piercing is OK as long as sterile needles were used and there is no sign of infection.
 • Provide a list of specific destinations and time periods if he/she has traveled outside of the country in the last year.

Donors need to bring photo ID and be well hydrated. It is important to decrease the intake of caffeinated and sugary beverages prior to giving blood as they cause dehydration.

To schedule an appointment, please call 1 (800) 879-4484.

LifeStream, formerly the Blood Bank of San Bernardino and Riverside Counties, was founded as a private, non-profit organization by the medical societies of San Bernardino and Riverside counties in 1951. LifeStream serves more than 30 medical facilities throughout the two counties and must receive more than 500 donations daily in order to meet emergency and ongoing patient needs in Southern California.

For more information, contact LifeStream at 1 (800) 879-4484 or visit their website at http://www.lstream.org/bbsb_website/

The Delta 4 rocket has accomplished a critical three-peat

March 9th, 2010

“The Delta 4 rocket has accomplished a critical three-peat for the nation in flawless style, successfully capping a series of repetitive but highly important U.S. weather satellite launches with a beautiful blastoff at nightfall Thursday.

“A trio of orbiting observatories, known as the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellites N, O and P, booked rides aboard Delta 4 rockets to get into orbit and serve meteorologists across America.

“That teaming paid off superbly with three picture-perfect launches in 2006, last June and Thursday evening, deploying a new generation of satellites that will be the mainstay in weather monitoring for many years to come.”

“The Delta’s main engine rumbled to life with the trademark hydrogen fireball harmlessly racing up the rocket, then the pair of solid-fuel boosters strapped to the first stage ignited to propel the 20-story vehicle away from the launch pad at 6:57 p.m. EST (2357 GMT).

“Three systematic firings by the cryogenic upper stage stepped the attached GOES P satellite initially into an initial low-altitude parking orbit, then into an intermediate orbit and finally achieved the desired altitude to deploy the payload.

“The targeted release orbit included a high point of 21,860 statute miles [35,180 km], low point of 4,100 statute miles [6,598 km] and inclination of 12 degrees.

“Satellite-builder Boeing will spend the next three weeks maneuvering the satellite into a circular geostationary orbit 22,300 miles [35,888 km] over the equator where it can match Earth’s rotation and appear parked in the sky. NASA will take control March 24 to conduct an extensive five-month testing period before the satellite is declared ready for use in NOAA’s weather observing system.

“GOES P is a $500 million mission that won’t immediately go into service. Instead, the craft will become an in-space insurance policy against any potential disruption in weather data from other satellites, just waiting for one of the older craft to finish its usefulness before being activated as a replacement.”

March 4th, 2010

Hello!
This Friday is my big concert with Raul Malo (lead singer of The Mavericks) at the Coach House. If you would like DISCOUNT TICKETS ($17.50), email me right away! Details are below. In case you aren’t familiar with his incredible talent, here is some information and some rave reviews:

Malo is known for his work as the frontman of the Grammy Award-winning, globally platinum- and gold-certified band the Mavericks. Following two albums of covers, Lucky One is Malo’s first album original material in seven years.

Malo has earned much critical respect over the years. USA Today applauded “a voice that seems to have no limits of range or versatility.” The New York Times said, “Malo has an exceptional voice, a burnished tenor that harks back to Roy Orbison and the great Cuban singer Beny Moré.” Rolling Stone added, “Raul Malo has a voice on par with the best of ‘em: Sinatra, George Jones and Orbison.” And The Wall Street Journal opined: “Malo’s superb voice is big and melodic with a natural vibrato. Exquisite.”

“When you see a trio take the to the stage with acoustic guitar, trumpet, and bass guitar, at least it’s going to be an interesting evening. Any doubts were dispelled once Raul Malo started to sing Lucky One, the title track of his first album of original material in seven years. It wasn’t just the sublime voice of the former singer with The Mavericks, but the subtle musical support that he received from his two colleagues. Jamison Sevit’s trumpet was muted so that it added colour without overwhelming the beauty of the song; Jay Weaver’s bass completing a surprisingly robust framework… But what a voice, its range perfectly suited to whatever the style of country, pop or Latin it was deployed on… From the new album, Moonlight Kisses could give Raul Malo another big commercial breakthrough. The Mavericks may be history but their frontman has moved on creatively and with bags of popular appeal and it was thrilling to hear him in such an intimate environment.”

“THE COMPLETE HISTORY OF AMERICA – Abridged”

March 4th, 2010

From Kellee Flanders, Cal Poly, Pomona:
2/26 – 3/7 “The Complete History of America – Abridged”
The Theatre department presents “THE COMPLETE HISTORY OF AMERICA – Abridged”
by Adam Long,, Reed Martin & Austin Tichenor on February 26,27 and March 4,5 & 6 at 8 p.m. on the Main Stage Theatre - Bldg 25.
http://www.class.csupomona.edu/th/shows/

The Complete History of America interprets the past as a breathlessly paced sequence of silly vaudeville sketches, word-association games, puns and crude parodies of movie and television genres. Nothing is sacred, and many of the facts have been a skewed. History has never been this much fun…or as delightfully mutilated!!
